Julie Rerucha Peterson Julie Rerucha Peterson, age 53, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 20, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends. She graduated from Bowsher High School in 1982 and Bowling Green State University in 1986 where she was affiliated with Chi Omega sorority and received a degree in Special Education. She spent her years dedicated to teaching and caring for children and adults with special needs. Julie also gave much of her weekend time doing Respite Care in order to provide relief for the families of her students. She was most recently employed by Murray Ridge School, Elyria, where she was employed for over 10 years. Julie loved her childhood summers at Bird Lake in Michigan where she spent time boating and participating in water skiing competitions as well as many traditional Fourth of July boat parades. She also enjoyed the vacations her family took with an extended group that included her mom, siblings, nieces and nephews. Julie enjoyed spending time outdoors at her Wakeman residence with her husband and children, especially when they were able to sit around a bonfire together. Julie will always be remembered for her thoughtful and kind spirit and contagious laughter and smile. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Michael Peterson; Children, Lauren, Luke and Landon; loving Mother, Jeannie Rerucha; Siblings, Peggy (Tom) Selders, John (Laura) Rerucha, along with many Nieces, Nephews, Aunts and Uncles that will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her loving father, Jack Rerucha (1995). Family and friends may celebrate Julie’s life with her family on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 10 am to 3pm, with a memorial service beginning at 2 pm at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, OH 43614. There will also be a small service and gathering on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 5 pm, Kipton Community Church, 511 Church Street, Kipton, OH 44049 In Julie’s honor, memorial contributions can be made to: Special Olympics Ohio, 1958 Kresge Drive, Amherst, OH 44001.
