John Raymond Duff, Jr, age 90, of Monclova, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at his home. Ray was born on October 24, 1930 to Agnes (Collins) and John R. Duff, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. On April 7th, 1956, he married his childhood sweetheart, Jessie Blair Fraser. Ray was a veteran of the US Navy. While enlisted he worked his way up to the position of Air Traffic controller while stationed in Guam. Ray graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana Tech in Mechanical Engineering. He then worked as a mechanical engineer for Case IH and later for Owens Illinois, retiring in 1984. Ray enjoyed working in his apple and pear orchard, golfing, snowmobiling, tinkering in the garage, traveling the world and the great outdoors. He was also a gifted artist and painter. He also enjoyed reading a good book and the challenge of investing monies. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jessie; grandson, Ben Garn; his 6 siblings, Betty, Gladys, Meryl, Bess, Don, and Russell. Ray is survived by his children, Cathy (Bud) Webb-LeBarr, John R. Duff, III, Diane (Ken) Garn; 6 grandchildren – Jeremy (Wendy), Justin (Sophie), Jared, Randy, Andrew (Stacey), Elizabeth, and Ben’s wife (Tara). 10 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; and faithful companion, Chris Hammer. Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, on Sunday, February 14th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. concluding with US Navy Military Honors. Memorial contributions in Ray’s memory can be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
