John Joseph Meyer June 2, 1946 - November 10, 2021 John Joseph “Turkey” Lawrence Meyer returned to his Lord on November 10, 2021 after a three week battle with Covid. He left this earth surrounded by his adult children at the Veteran Hospital in Ann Arbor Michigan. He was a caring loving family man who often put his family before himself. He was born on June 2, 1946, in Toledo, Ohio and lived most of his adult life in the south end of Toledo. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served his country with pride and got engaged to the love of his life Sharon Meyer, referred to as “my world”, before joining the service and after returning from a tour married her on December 23, 1966. They raised 5 wonderful children together and were married 54 years. He lived like “A Boss” with many multitudes of transportation businesses. His interests included cars, CB radios, motorcycles, boating and fishing. He was an adventurous and outgoing man who cherished family time above all else. After retiring, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his golden years, he enjoyed sitting out on his front porch with his wife and sharing stories of his grand adventures with friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife, of 54 years, Sharon L. Meyer; their 5 children Terry L. Meyer, Greg A. Meyer (Jill), Tiffany C. Stenson (Brittany), Angel M. Meyer, Tristan R. Meyer (Alisa); 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; Sisters, Dorothy, Diane, Sandy and Katie. Preceded in death by his father, Ralph E. Meyer; mother Louise Shipmen and brothers, Ralph E. Meyer JR and Richard Meyer; granddaughter Ta Myah D. Meyer. The Family will receive friends on Friday, November 19th from 4-8 PM at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, where funeral services will begin on Saturday at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
