He was united in Holy marriage to Angela Schiessl on August 1, 1992 and they were blessed with 29 years of married life together. On January 22, 2021, God called Jess home to heaven. In addition to many friends, he is survived by his wife, Angie, mother, Georgina of Iowa, father-in-law, Robert (Linda) Schiessl of Nebraska, mother-in-law, Thulla Edward of Nebraska, his brother Matt (Valerie) and their daughters of Iowa, brothers-in-law Danny of Nevada, Anthony (Colin) Schiessl and family of Colorado, Andrew (Christa) Schiessl and family of Nebraska, and Lee of Nebraska, sisters-in-law Shannon (Jeffrey) Swanson of Nebraska, Theresa Schiessl of California. He has been greeted in eternity by Jesus, along with a number of friends and family including his sister Jennifer Lynn, father Jerry, and step father-in-law Burt Edward. Following his marriage to Angie and along with his lifelong devotion to her, Jess, a 1992 Graduate of Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, dedicated his life to children as a Lutheran school teacher. He served first as a 4th grade teacher at St. Paul Lutheran Church And School in Leavenworth, Kansas and continued as a 2nd grade teacher at Lawson Elementary school in Leavenworth before taking a call to serve as a 4th grade teacher at Memorial Lutheran Church and School in Houston, Texas. In 2015 the Lord and his people at Trinity Lutheran Church and School in Toledo, Ohio called Jess to serve as the 4th grade teacher. Throughout all his teaching positions he served the children and families entrusted to his care as teacher, coach, athletic director, trustee, mentor, friend, and more. He loved the Lord, he loved children, and he loved home improvement projects. In his time away from school and church, when he was not assisting friends and neighbors with home projects, he loved spending time with Angie as they traveled and caught up with friends around the country. Interspersed throughout these years of teaching, during the summers he also worked as an electrician’s helper and a pipefitter. Through his years he impacted countless lives in the classrooms and on the playing fields, courts, and tracks that found him coaching, not just his team but the individuals of the opposing teams. He was always an encourager who did whatever he could to help, especially when it was for the kids.
