Janet L. Echelberry

Janet Lee Echelberry, 85, of Toledo, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Elizabeth Scott Community, Maumee, Ohio. Janet was born on January 15, 1936 to Howard and Lillian Hicks in Greenup County, Kentucky. She grew up in Fostoria, Ohio and graduated from Fostoria High School where she proudly supported her school as a cheerleader. While in high school, Janet met her future husband Gary and they shared 35 wonderful years together. Janet was a dedicated paraprofessional at Glendale-Feilbach Elementary School for 25 years. Janet enjoyed camping all throughout the United States with her family. For 15 years, she had a winter home in Florida next to her sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Jim Patterson. Janet was a long-time member of Church of St. Andrew, UMC, where she sang in the choir for many years. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gary, and sister Joyce Patterson. She is survived by her children, Kathy Echelberry, and Dan (Wendy) Echelberry of Ft. Meyers, FL.; grandchildren, Breanna (Andre) Carpenter, Danielle (Aaron) Overholt, Phillip Echelberry, Alexandra Echelberry and Paul Echelberry. Visitation will be held at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo, Ohio on Sunday January 24th from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Her funeral service will begin at the funeral home on Monday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. in Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria, Ohio. Those attending the visitation and funeral service are required to wear a facial covering and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
