Dorothy "Dottie" R Yager

Dorothy Regina “Dottie” Yager, 89, of Toledo passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016, at Hospice of NW Ohio in Perrysburg. She was born in Toledo to Alfred and Mary Dorothy (LeSage) Leonard on August 13, 1926, the same day as her future husband Joseph was born. She was a Scott High School graduate and while working at Toledo Scale she met Joe and found they shared the same birthday. They were married May 26, 1951 at Rosary Cathedral, in Toledo. She was a stay at home mom and raised two sons. She had a talent for sewing and knitting, making many of her own clothes and knitting many socks for her family, friends and charity over the years. Mom and dad loved to travel around the country and some of their trips are still talked about. Mom was very compassionate and caring and was always easy to talk to. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe, the love of her life, her parents, her grandmother Blanch LeSage, who raised her, her beloved sister Alice Rowan. Surviving to cherish her memory are her sons Joseph and Charles, brother James (Helen) Leonard, special nephews Dave and Tony Rowan and many other nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call Friday, February 19, 2016 from 2-8 PM at The Walter Funeral Home , 4653 Glendale Ave. with Vigil Services at 7 PM. The funeral will begin with prayers from the funeral home Saturday, February 20 at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from St. Patrick of Heatherdowns at 10 AM. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Those planning a memorial for Dottie are asked to consider contributions to Hospice of NW Ohio.
