Donald James Sherriff, 78, passed away on February 1, 2022 at Mercy Health St. Anne Hospital. Don was born on February 2, 1943 to Lowell and Eleanor Sherriff and was a lifelong Toledo resident. He was a 1961 graduate of Macomber High School and served in the US Marine Corps Reserve for many years, achieving the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (E-7). Don greatly enjoyed his work as a Sheet Metal Fabricator and was a loyal and faithful employee of Kuhlman Engineering for nearly 60 years, where he developed many friendships. Don enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He attended the First Apostolic Church in Toledo, first on Jackman Road and later Sylvania Avenue. Don is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Linda; children Donald (Kristina) of Toledo, Dawn (Tim Lavoie) of Stevensville, MT, and David (Aimee) of North Little Rock, AR; grandchildren David, Grace, Trevor, Elliot, & Ava Sherriff; great-grandchildren Dmitri Sherriff and Tristian & Kofi Brown; siblings Bill (Julie) of Leawood, KS, and Kay Sherriff of Montrose, SD; sisters-in-law Barbara Helvoight and Nancy Gross; and several nieces & nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Francis & Meredith Gillen, and a sister Susan Sherriff. Psalm 23: “The Lord is My Shepherd…” Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, February 13th at Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue, Toledo. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 14th, at First Apostolic Church, 5701 W. Sylvania Avenue, with internment immediately following at Toledo Memorial Park. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Apostolic Church.
