Albert John Fischer

Albert J. Fischer, 94, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017 in the comfort of his home with his wife of 66 years by his side. A lifelong resident of Toledo, Al was born January 7th, 1923. He graduated from Devilbiss High School in 1941. He then served in the United States Army and did a tour in Korea. He was a 65 year member of I.B.E.W Local 8 as an electrician and also served as the financial secretary for 23 years; retiring in 1988. Al loved sports and enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and coaching. He will be remembered for his keen sense of direction and his quick wit humor. Al was proceeded in death by his 3 siblings and grandson, Daniel Cunningham. He is survived by his beloved wife, Eileen; daughter Kathy (Howard) Cunningham; son Kenneth Fischer; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Al was a 53 year member of Faith Lutheran Church, contributions can be made to the church. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 20th from 4-8 pm at the Walter Funeral Home, 4653 Glendale Avenue. Services will be Friday, April 21st at 11:00 am with interment to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. walterfuneralhome.com
